Alchemy Island

This half term we will be going on a magical trip to Alchemy Island! Throughout the unit, we will be learning about the art of alchemy and exploring where the gold is hidden throughout the island's mysterious landscape. The children will be expressing their creativity through writing their own fantasy stories based on their own island creations. It is through this, that they will learn about human and physical geographical features. They will also learn the importance of map reading using coordinates. In science, we will be separating mixtures, looking at reversible and irreversible changes and studying properties of materials.

(Please see the knowledge organiser attached below that has all of the key facts on it that the children will be learning, along with key words and diagrams. This will replace the class newsletter).

In maths, we will continue to work on multiplication and division using more formal, written methods to solve more complex problems. We will revisit addition and subtraction methods throughout to provide the children with ample opportunity to consolidate their knowledge. After multiplication and division, we will start the fractions, decimals and percentages unit.

Please continue to encourage your children to access airhead at home to complete some additional topical learning, along with TT rockstars, Doodle Maths, Spelling and Maths Frame.

We have P.E on a Wednesday and a Thursday afternoon. Please make sure that  your child has their full P.E kit with them including appropriate footwear.

If you have any questions about any aspect of your child’s learning and their life at school, please do not hesitate to see me in the morning or in the afternoon at the class door. If you feel like you need to speak in more detail then please ask to see me for an appointment.
